Is the Chinese aftermarket ready for electric vehicles (EV)?

Due to the Covid-19 effect, the cumulative growth rate of retail sales of passenger cars in China from January to August was -15.2%, reflecting the rapid recovery of the industry 3.3 points higher than that from January to July.

Over the same period, the sales volume of new energy passenger cars of Chinese brands increased to 655,000, and the market share reached to 37.3%, with a year-on-year increase of 0.1 points, which was the first growth in nearly five months.

From a positive point of view, it is predicted that the proportion of new energy vehicles will reach about 15% before 2030 in China but obviously the traditional service providers are far from ready for the repairing for the EV cars.

At present, 80% of the after-sales problems of new energy vehicles are caused by power batteries, the qualification, training and preparation of electrical and technical maintenance personnel are the paramount to determine whether the traditional repairers can continue to be participate in the aftermarket of new energy vehicles in the future.
